Racism & Mindfulness in the Wake of Covid-19 ~ Online Zoom (Full Scholarships Available)
with Sister Clear Grace
June 18 - 21, 2020
Well before the virus arrived, the World was already plagued with inequalities and unjust systems. History has shown us that the consequences of contagion are not equally felt by all communities. Outbreaks create fear, and fear is a key ingredient for racism and xenophobia to thrive. The coronavirus pandemic has too uncovered social and political fractures within communities, with racialised and discriminatory responses to fear, disproportionately affecting marginalized groups and has again exposed historical and recent police violence on Black communities. For many this insistent call of attention to violence, generational and racial disparities only perpetuate a spiral of unpleasant feelings.
In this retreat we will use the Buddha’s teaching of Mindfulness to remember, to observe and to deconstruct the ever pervading way that white supremacy shows up in and around us so that we can continue our path to liberation for ALL Beings.
